City Parks and Recreation Department staff will present the Draft Master Plan for the east side of McIntire Park to City Council on Monday, July 16, at 7:00 pm at City Hall. There will also be a public hearing on the Plan at the Council meeting.
02 REPORT_McINTIRE PARK EAST FINAL REPORT 2012
The Draft Master Plan is the culmination of a lengthy community master planning process, multiple community meetings and months of public comment. The Plan defines land uses within the park; with focus on opening up large areas of the park for general passive park uses, development of a trail network, addition of a botanical garden area, relocation of the skate park and development of a family activity center on the Melbourne Road side of the park. The plan also recommends removal of the golf course no later than the year 2020 and opening that area to passive park uses.
Garden supporters are urged to come out to the meeting to support the Draft Master Plan and to show appreciation to the City for opening up the park for passive recreation and a botanical garden.
All your supportive letters and e-mails, as well as the valuable input at the public meetings, have made a critical difference in this recommended Draft Master Plan. Thank you so much.
