On Friday, April 8th, the McIntire Botanical Garden held a public discussion on the benefits of a botanical garden to a community. Ian Robertson, landscape designer/horticulturalist/teacher and published author, facilitated a lively discussion with the following well-known panelists:

• Norman Burns, Executive Director of the Maymont Botanical Garden
• Kennon Williams, ASLA Landscape Architecture
• Marsha Lea, Principal, ASLA,LEED AP, an expert in designing and planning botanical gardens
• Keith Tomlinson, Botanical Garden Manager, Meadowlark Botanical Garden
