New Design Concept for McIntire Park Added at January 23 Public Meeting!

The McIntire Botanical Garden had an opportunity to present a new design concept for McIntire Park East at the January 23rd public planning meeting.  Design Concept #4 focused on keeping as much of the park as possible open for use  by the entire community.  See below: Charlottesville Tomorrowphoto of the plan drawn at the meeting.

The city of Charlottesville unveiled three design concepts for the eastern portion of McIntire Park at a public meeting attended by almost 90 residents Monday. …In September, city staff kicked off the public input process, saying the 61 available acres in the park were a “blank slate.”

In December, more than 100 citizens put pen to paper in a planning workshop to suggest how activities as varied as golf, skateboarding, soccer and botanical gardens could be accommodated.

DRAFT PLANS FOR THE EASTERN SIDE OF MCINTIRE PARK TO BE UNVEILED MONDAY NIGHT, JANUARY 23RD

Please come out to Charlottesville High School on Monday evening, January 23rd at 6:30 pm!

City Parks and Recreation staff will present multiple conceptual plans for the eastern side of McIntire Park. Following the presentation, there will be a public discussion of the pros and cons of the draft plans.

Both the Planning Commission and City Council will decide the future use of this beautiful 65 acre section of  McIntire Park based on these plans and citizen input,  so it is critically important to come out to the meeting and make your views known.

If you want a public botanical garden that everyone can use and enjoy all year round, please come out and support  this concept at the meeting.  Help us create our own “central park” for the City of Charlottesville.

McIntire Park Planning – 4th public meeting JAN 23 – please support MBG!

Charlottesville Parks & Recreation invites you to participate in the public park master planning process for the east side of McIntire Park.

NEXT MEETING: Monday, January 23rd, 6:30pm – Charlottesville High School, Common Area B

Review of draft concept plans and public discussion of pros and cons of each plan.

Once the plan has been generated through the public meetings, there will  be a public hearing at the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, a Planning Commission meeting, and City Council.
