Signs Unveiled for the New McIntire Botanical Garden

CBS 19 – Another big step was taken in the developmental process of the new McIntire Botanical Garden project. Two signs were unveiled Thursday morning marking the exact location of the 8.5-acre garden. It will serve as a place for people to experience nature’s beauty and as an educational resource for the community.

Sign Marks Future Home of Charlottesville’s Botanical Garden

NBC 29 – Central Virginia’s first botanical garden now has signage marking the spot of its future home. The nonprofit in charge of the garden held a ceremony in Charlottesville’s McIntire Park Thursday morning. Eight and a half acres there will soon feature trees, flowers and trails. The plans even include a visitor’s center and pavilion.

City Takes Next Step in Botanical Garden Plans

CAVALIER DAILY – The City of Charlottesville recently signed a memorandum to officially involve the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation in the design and construction of the McIntire Botanical Garden. The memorandum was signed in conjunction with the McIntire Botanical Garden Nonprofit Organization, a group which helped plan the garden in 2008 in conjunction with plans for the Meadow Creek Parkway.

Botanical Garden Coming to McIntire Park

NBC 29 – A group of volunteers have reached a deal with the city of Charlottesville to transform the former McIntire Park golf course into a public garden. A nonprofit began planning the McIntire Botanical Garden in 2007.

City Signs Deal with McIntire Botanical Garden

CBS 19 – The city of Charlottesville has signed an agreement with the McIntire Botanical Garden to get construction going. The botanical garden will have eight-and-a-half acres in the park and will feature trees, shrubs and flowers. There will also be trails, a pavilion and a visitors center.
